Being an "Out" Teacher

No, I don't teach students to be out...or maybe I do in some fashion. When I came out at work as a bi-trans woman, I became a very visible person on my high school campus. Not that I wasn't already visible before, being the Theatre Arts teacher, but people who never even thought about me and what we did in this strange isolated building on campus started considering  just exactly who it was behind the school plays and weird drama kids. They started wondering if it was acceptible for someone to transition in plain sight and, while they would never tell me such things to my face, there were whispers behind the scenes that perhaps it wasn't the best idea...that perhaps I should have "thought about the students" before doing something so dramatic so publically.

But I am the Drama teacher, isn't it my job to be publically dramatic?
